In the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend, and so for St. Vincent’s, school boards have an advisory role, vs. deliberative. School boards work to advise and support pastors, and in doing so, also advise their principals/school administration. Boards are especially tasked with the long-term vision and growth of the school, which they support primarily through the creation and maintenance of the strategic plan. Our Board helps us ensure our strategic plan is current, meaningful, and authentic to actual progress and growth at St. Vincent’s. School administration reports back to the Board regularly on our progress on strategic plan goals.
Our Board also has subcommittees to help advise us on more specific areas of focus, including Catholic identity, academic data and technology, athletics, and advancement.
Our Board subcommittee for discernment and orientation supports our pastor with community discernment of new members. Board members serve three-year terms, and can renew these terms one time. Parents are invited to apply for open seats when members exit the board. This Board committee for discernment reviews these applications and makes recommendations to Fr. Dan for the confirmation of new members.
